We are pleased to share that DRRN members Lori Daniels, Sarah Dickson-Hoyle, and Jen Baron are co-authors of a recently published article titled “The 2023 Wildfires in British Columbia, Canada: Impacts, Drivers, and Transformations to Coexist with Wildfire” in the Canadian Journal of Forest Research (open access).
This important publication offers a comprehensive analysis of the devastating 2023 wildfire season in British Columbia, exploring its wide-ranging impacts on communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure. The authors examine the underlying drivers of these wildfires, including climate change, forest management practices, and land-use changes. Additionally, the article presents critical recommendations for adapting to a future where wildfires are more frequent and intense, highlighting strategies for sustainable coexistence with wildfire in BC.
