UBC’s Disaster Resilience Research Network (DRRN) is seeking one highly motivated UBC graduate student for the Student Engagement Coordinator position. The Student Engagement Coordinator will support the DRRN by leading student engagement for the network, which will include organizing events, and creating and executing communications plans to promote events and student research.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute communications plans, including website updates and marketing for student events.
- Create content and manage social media channels for the network.
- Plan events to increase student engagement with network activities, including but not limited to planning speaker events and/or facilitating a graduate seminar series.
- Participate in and support network activities, as appropriate.
Duration:
- September 2023 - April 2024
Pay and program benefits:
- $30/hour for an estimated 5-10 hours per week, paid bi-weekly
- Flexible working hours
- Shared office space
Eligibility and selection criteria:
- Must be enrolled as a graduate student at UBC for the duration of the position
- Located in Vancouver, with access to UBC Point Grey campus
- Strong event planning, communication, and writing skills
- Able to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Strong research interest in disaster-related studies is an asset
